One year ago Leann visited Echo Glen Children's Center for the first time with the King County Youth Chaplaincy as a chaplain and mentor. With 85+ hours recorded volunteering since October 2023; about 100 books donated and distributed to the youth, Leann has gained trusted relationships with young boys and girls during one-on-one meetings, group meetings and worship service at Echo Glen Children's Center. The youth located at Echo Glen come from all over the Pacific Northwest, from Portland Oregon, Vancouver Washington, to Tri-Cities, Yakima, Tacoma, Seattle, Everett, Spokane and everywhere in between. Leann is able to listen to the youth's stories and relate to the youth by telling her stories. They discuss solution based ideas, healing and protection through scripture. Leann encourages the youth to gain a prayer life, a relationship with God, study scripture for themselves, practice conflict resolution, planning and preparing for life after incarceration and long term goals for their future. A special thank you to Jon, Durell & Scott from King County Youth Chaplaincy for accepting Leann on to their team and mission, trusting in her and allowing her to have a voice within their community and organization. There is never enough time or resources for this mission, please consider donating so we can increase our efforts.
